Our Village

Our Village

Litton is not only a beautiful village, it is an active and thriving community, with a primary school, a village hall, a church and a chapel as well as an excellent community-run village shop. The pub is a focal point for many of the village social and fund-raising activities that take place, but visitors are always made to feel welcome.

A particularly rewarding time to visit is during the annual Litton Well dressings (usually the last week in June), when villagers create a picture from flower petals and other natural materials, and celebrate Wakes Night with music, a fun fair, barbecue, stalls, a tug-of-war and a torchlight procession. On Boxing Day, the pub plays host to a traditional carol concert with Cressbrook Brass band.
